Occupational Therapy

The professional body of Occupational Therapists. Aims include maintenance of the highest possible standards of service to users of occupational therapy; education, development and support of its members; promotion of research and innovation in the profession and the involvement of all members in decisions about the profession. Provides information on occupational therapy as a career and how to access occupational therapy services.

Community Interest Company that helps people to find the solutions that will enable them to stay active and independent and to have choice and control over their lives. Their mission is to help people to recognise the value of occupation and meaningful activity and to be motivated to live life to the full. They provide free information and advice on independent living and equipment, including links to independent OTs for environmental assessments to enable people to live their lives to the full; specialist training for organisations; Social and Leisure Activity sessions for community groups.

Produce and compile a directory of Occupational Therapists in private practice, which is available online. All OT's are State Registered by the Health Professions Council and are members of COTSS-IP. They are all also covered by professional indemnity insurance to carry out their business. COTSS-IP aims to support occupational therapists working within the independent sector; facilitate the exchange of information and advice between members; promote high standards of occupational therapy practice within the independent sector; promote the work of its members; provide information for members of the public or employing bodies wishing to find an independent occupational therapist; inform the development of the occupational therapy profession to take account of occupational therapy requirements within the independent sector; raise the profile of Occupational Therapy within corporate, voluntary or private organisations.
